It was here that we braved the pouring rain and ventured once again to a new room. We settled in and then wandered about the village for new sights and sounds. Then we all met in the dining room of the LA LACONDADA
DEL CAPITANAO restaurant that is owned and managed by Michelin Chef Giancarlo Polito. Dinner: Wine, risotto, bruschetta, wild boar, and oven roasted potatoes, and ending with a "delizioso" Chocolate Torte.
The evening was yet another to remember.

ASSISI & TRUFFLES & WINE TASTING
The following night we went to a local farmers' home for a Truffle Hunt followed by a lovely dinner prepared by three gregarious woman. As a result of Italy having such dry season, the Truffles were minimal but we all watched as the farmers dogs found and dug up the truffles. I learned that the breed of dog doesn't matter as long as they have good "sniffers".
Oh yes, those truffles embellished the cuisine and brought the common foods to a whole new level.
I'd say this night was my favorite. Besides the bountiful repast which included wines the farmer produced, we were entertained by Tricia and the farmers. They sang and just had a really nice time, engaging us in the melodies.
Wine Tasting 101
This building was not just enormous in size but one could feel the strength of the years and families that had lived here. It was told that during WWII people would hide in the wine cellars for safety. What could be bad about that...........quiet escape and wine!
Here at the Vineyard we toured the wine cellars that had been used in WWII as a shelter, learned about the different wines produced, requirements for exportation to the U. S., tasted wines paired with a specially prepared lunch. There was thinly proscuitto, zucchini and carmelized onion pizza, cheeses, and breads. The pours of wine were way generous and well received by all. We topped the lunch off with a dessert wine. Later we were invited to purchase wines or olive oil to later enjoy.
