Welcome to Italy
Day 1 & 2 - Padua, Italy
Melodee and I arrived in Padua a day before the tour was to
start. We were greeted by the owner and kindly shown to our funky little room. Our room was perfect and had an amazing view from our bedroom window. Such a delightful first impression. It was obvious at this point that Rick Steves had made a good choice with this place. There was bizarre art work throughout this family owned hotel.
As you see, we did use the elevator and yes, we left our mark. We couldn't resist as it just added to the funkiness of the hotel. **Check out the crazy art work below. This little gem's limit was 4 persons - although that would have been a serious squeeze.
After checking in and settling we ventured out to orient ourselves to the neighborhood.
That evening precisely at 5pm (I love that Patricia kept us on schedule) we met the rest of our group, learned a bit about each other, got the ground rules down, and "buddied up". Yup, we paired up and for the rest of our trip we always kept track of each other. Something we learned in Kindergarten and still applies today.

Our room......
So here is the little room (below left) we were assigned. It was immaculate, had everything we needed to include an amazing view from our window. (below right)
I would caution, as many have, that one must have everything needed before jumping in the shower- in this place there was NO bending over so if we couldn't have gotten our legs up, they never would have gotten cleaned. Oh yes, and I would highly recommend soap on a rope!

Welcome to Italy dinner -
After the meet and greet we went into town for our "Welcome to Italy" dinner. Ahhhh, was that good. Life in Italy was off to a good start - great food, wine and people - a fantastic combination.
What's next?
Every day or should I say the night before Tricia posted
the itinerary complete with times for the following day. That not only provided us with notice of things to anticipate but also a photo opportunity record shot to use after arriving home.
