Ravenna was a stop we made on Day 3 enroute to Montone. We had a guided tour of the Basilica di San Vitale and Galla Placidia Mausoleum. This town is noted for its 1500 year old churches. The inlaid glass mozaic floor maze generally acknowledged to be the crowning achievement of Byzantine art, the walls and the ceilings with stories of biblical scenes and the 6th century marbled alter and the wooden pews were all breath taking. *Outside is depicted below - left side

It didn't take long before Melodee and I realized the time and effort and potential headaches we alleviated by taking a guided tour of Italy. We never worried about how to get from point A to B, Gas or Directions, Entrance Tickets, etc. We were in the hands of a wonderfully knowledgeable tour guide and an excellent bus driver. Once again the saying goes, "You get what you pay for".
